Join us for a free, fun-filled day of hands-on environmental and cultural learning at Gunbower Island, northern Victoria! We are offering three interactive workshops throughout the day, exploring local wildlife, conservation and cultural heritage. We recommend booking into all workshops to enjoy the full Junior Rangers experience! Suitable for children of all ages.
Bush Walk – Flora and Fauna Survey
Explore the diverse habitats of Gunbower Island while learning how to identify native plants and wildlife. Children will take part in a real flora and fauna survey and discover the importance of protecting local ecosystems.
Aboriginal Artwork and Wildlife Tracks
Learn about Aboriginal symbols, storytelling and traditional connections to Country through a hands-on art activity. Children will explore native wildlife tracks and discover how First Nations peoples have used tracking knowledge for thousands of years.
Indigenous Astronomy and Seasonal Indicators Workshop
Discover how First Nations have used the night sky and natural seasonal indicators to understand weather patterns, animal behaviour and changes in the environment. Children will learn about Indigenous astronomy, traditional knowledge systems and the deep connections between sky, land and wildlife.
