Seed collection permit

Anyone who collects native seed and cuttings in Victoria needs a permit, unless the plant is located on private land and you have obtained landowner permission to collect the seed.

For any seed and cutting collection on public land (e.g. school grounds, Council reserves, State government parks and reserves), you will require a permit under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988 (FFG Act). This not only includes plant species listed as threatened under the FFG Act, but also members of common plant families and genera such Wattles, Boronias, Correas, Grevillea and native daisies (Asteraceae). Many of these species are used for revegetation and may occur on your planting site or nearby. For a full list of all species that require a permit, please see here.

We are happy to assist you with the permit application process, just get in touch. Please note that the permit approval process can take up to six weeks.
